Nepal Provides 27 Tons of Relief Aid to Earthquake-Affected Myanmar

During the meeting, Joint Secretary Adhikari expressed condolences for the lives lost in the earthquake and wished for the recovery of the injured. He acknowledged past assistance from Myanmar to Nepal during the latter’s own 2015 earthquake and emphasized that this solidarity would enhance the close ties between the two nations.

Heu Wai Lwin, a government official from Myanmar, conveyed gratitude for the support from Nepal, noting that over 3,590 people have perished in the earthquake and that 4,800 have sustained injuries. He reported 148 individuals still unaccounted for.

Ambassador Ghimire highlighted that approximately 150,000 Nepalis are residing in Myanmar, with 18 reported fatalities linked to the earthquake and 15 individuals missing. The earthquake, which struck on March 28, measured at 7.7 on the Richter scale. An umbrella organization representing Nepalis in Myanmar has been aiding around 250 earthquake survivors with shelter.

Additionally, a medical team from the Nepali Army has been actively providing emergency healthcare services to those affected, having reached more than 1,300 individuals thus far.
